How it works
- Check your notice for free. The checker tells you whether the notice follows the rules and your deadline.
- Buy the pack. You go straight to the questions, and we email you the link. It works for 14 days.
- Answer the questions about your notice, your home, similar rents near you and your money, in the MR1's order. Most are optional.
- Get your pack on screen, as two PDFs and by email. Anything you left out is marked in [square brackets].
- You check, copy, sign and send your own application before the start date in your notice.
What we do not do
The pack is self-help. We do not fill in, sign, file or send anything for you, we do not pay the fee for you, we never contact the tribunal or your landlord and nobody at RentersExpert reads or checks your case. You are the applicant and every fact has to be yours. For advice about your own case, contact Shelter, Citizens Advice or a law centre.
Free sample pages
See sample pages first: part of the question 12 workbook (the open market rent), the evidence planner with a comparables worksheet, the timeline worksheet and the hardship notes. No sign-up needed. Add your email only if you want one email from us about the pack.
Prefer to do it all yourself?
Everything you need is also free on this site: the checker, Should I challenge?, the MR1 step-by-step guide and the MR1 example answers. The pack saves you time by putting your own facts into the form's order for you to check.
Questions people ask
What exactly do I get?
Two PDF files, also shown on screen. Part 1 is what you send: every question of the MR1 form (version 08.26) in the form's own order, with an answer made from what you told us, ready to check and copy, then your rent evidence table, the covering email or letter to the tribunal and the covering note for your landlord's copy. Part 2 is your guide: your dates, your notice check with the law cited, what to attach, how to send it and what happens next.
Do you fill in or send the form for me?
No. You check the answers, copy them into your own MR1 (online or on paper), sign it, pay the fee or ask for help with fees and send it yourself. We never contact the tribunal or your landlord and nobody at RentersExpert reads or checks your case. That keeps you in charge of your own application.
Is this legal advice?
No. The pack is general guidance arranged around your own facts by fixed rules. For advice about your case, contact Shelter, Citizens Advice or a law centre. Shelter says a tenant should get legal advice before treating a notice as invalid.
How long can I use my order link?
14 days after you pay. Your answers are saved on your device as you type, so you can come back as you find more rent evidence and make a new pack. We also email you the link when you pay.
Will the pack fit my situation?
It is written for private tenants in England challenging a rent increase notice served on or after 1 May 2026. Run the free checker first: it tells you if your situation is outside these rules, for example a housing association tenancy, a home in Wales or a notice served before 1 May 2026.
Can I get a refund?
The pack is digital content that you get straight away. When you buy, you ask for it to be supplied at once, so the 14-day right to cancel ends when it is delivered. Your rights under consumer law are not affected: if the pack is faulty or not as described, email us and we will put it right or give you a refund.
What happens to my answers?
They stay on your device until you download or email your files. Then they go to our server only to make your PDFs and are not kept. Payment is handled by Stripe. See our privacy notice.
